The Canary Island's Cumbre Vieja volcano is experiencing a major 8.9 earthquake.
Some say it's just a local disaster. But, Dr. Samuel May, one of the world's premier researchers on stratovolcanos knows different. He's a renowned crackerjack scientist who's predicted this earthquake would cause the volcano to collapse into the Atlantic Ocean.
When that happens, the displacement of seawater causes a catastrophic tsunami to race for the coastlines of Morocco, Portugal and France, before barreling down the English Channel, over the Barrier Gates and burying London beneath fifty feet of water.
With the Queen of England and Parliament meeting to discuss the impending threat, America is bracing for the biggest natural disaster ever recorded.
Invited to participate in preparedness meeting at the United Nations and White House, Samuel and his team must convince world leaders to evacuate their Atlantic Ocean coastlines from Europe to America.
Understanding the threat, the American President addresses the nation, and soon after, the city streets are chaotic with looting, rioting and uncertainty.
Enter Pope Callixtus the Fourth who is visiting the Canaries when the first tremor hits. Escaping near death on the island of Tenerife, he soon learns this is the beginning of something more when ancient Vatican secrets lead him to learn that the Earth is nothing more than a science project for an extraterrestrial race.
The aliens have begun to shut down the planet in a series of natural Cataclysms.
But there is an assassination plot underway, the Jesuits want Callixtus dead for revealing the hidden agenda.
What follows is a race against time to save humanity.
Will Callixtus make it back to Rome in time to save the world?
Or will life as we know it end with the annihilation of humanity?

Dan Brown meets disaster movie is the best way I can describe CATACLYSM by R.J. Smith. The book is a thrill ride that will keep you turning pages.I have to admit I was a little hesitant to read this book when I saw the cover. Being consumed by an enormous wave has always been one of my greatest fears. I have nightmares about it. But I’m very glad I overcame that fear and read this gem of a novel.
R.J. Smith has a unique writing style that immediately draws the reader into the heart of the action. And there’s plenty of action in this fast-moving and gripping tale.
I highly recommend CATACLYSM. I’ve already purchased copies for my family members and recommended the book to my friends.

Cataclysm eBook RJ Smith Rick Green Glenda Findley Reviews
A real page turner! Ordered the book for my kindle then could not put it down. Read it within a day. Good character development. Well-researched. Pleasant writing style to read. Descriptive style make you feel like you are there. Especially enjoyed the geology aspect of the plot. Surprise ending! Well worth the time and money.
This just might be the worst book I ever read. The author seems to have mixed up about 5 different disaster/shark stories together and attempted to spit them back at us. Names used for characters or references to characters in the book change too often. Nobody "says" anything - instead they grunt it, belch it, argue it. Some of the conversation is just inane. Things that happen with characters in the book are just plain stupid and not believable. The style of writing is difficult to comprehend at times.
THIS IS TRUE!
The author does weird things where he suddenly makes some type large and sometimes he interjects his own thoughts telling us to check google for proof of what he is telling us. My daughter and I laughed our way through a few chapters one evening and she surmised this is fan fiction. Well , this was fan fiction then that you shouldn't have bothered allowing as I now know I can never trust any of your ebooks. I don't know whether I paid a low price for this book or whether I obtained it for free via one of the email newsletters I subscribe to that alert us to free books - but I sure hope it was indeed free. The author should have paid me for my time to read it!
To the author You had a fun idea for about 5 separate books here. I normally love disaster books and that is why I kept reading. No matter that your writing frustrated me to no end, I wanted to see where you were actually going with it all. Tighten up your novel-writing skills, and take the stupid and pointless crap out of the novels (After you've told me the history of the shark I don't need it constantly repeated the rest of the book) before coming back to us as you certainly have the first skill - a ripe imagination. I hope in future you might pen a novel that finds its way into my heart. For those thinking the one-star reviews haven't been real? Mr. Author - fire THOSE people off your staff. They said everything I wanted to say.
Very interesting book, well-written, easy to read! Looking at all the subjects included in this story, I wondered if the author had a bet that he could actually write a story bringing these subjects together. Well, if he did, he won. Yes, I enjoyed this book.
I was expecting a catastrophic disaster story, but then it got really weird! I doubt that I'll read anything else by this author. Just too strange. Unless he explains this story. ET, stay home.
"Cataclysm" by R.J. Smith is an e-ticket ride that barely lets up. His unique writing style, use of fonts for visual impact and stream of thought is refreshing storytelling. Add natural disaster to this thriller and
you are in for an action packed read.
RJ does his research and weaves imagination with scientific fact and attention to detail. He writes like an investigative reporter. It’s drama in real-time.
This book was a pleasure to read. It seemed every turn of the page was a new twist on the mission. Every character was so easy to imagine, it felt like watching a movie ( oh it would be awesome as a movie ). Just wanted to say this was my first book from RJ Smith and it won't be my last
This might be the most faced paced book I've ever read. From page one, the action and suspense was non-stop. The author draws outside of the lines a little from time to time in his writing style, even going so far as breaking the fourth wall a few times, but I found it to be very entertaining. Clearly well-researched, thrilling, and a ton of fun to read!
