This is a story of Irish and Scottish Immigrants who came to America in the 1920's. It is a condensed version of Robert and Maggie Robertson Laird's story. My grandparents were Irish and Scottish Immigrants who came to America so that their children and grandchildren could have a better life. It’s a love story love of each other and love of the Father. It’s a story of faith. It's a story of survival and how faith played a role in their lives when tragedy struck unexpectedly. This book is non-fiction, but fiction was used to flesh out gaps and fill in the story blanks where character was known but specifics were not. Accounts are derived from the retelling of the story by family members, a video vignette of my mother sharing historical accounts and me piecing everything else together, including ship manifests and immigration records. So, sit back, grab a cup of coffee, or a stout cup of Irish tea, and travel back to the twenties on a rainy or sunny afternoon. If you have a similar family story, I hope you will be inspired. And I hope it will serve as a reminder of the sacrifices that those who have gone before us have made. Learn how Maggie and her family journeyed from Ireland and Scotland to America in the roaring twenties.
